Construction Manager – CIS Region

GOPA Tech is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team supporting a utility-scale onshore wind power project in the CIS region. The successful candidate will oversee construction activities during the EPC and commissioning phases, ensuring that works are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.
What you will do
The project involves the development of a 200 MW utility-scale onshore wind farm in the CIS region, comprising wind turbine generators, the electrical balance of plant, substation, grid connection infrastructure, and associated civil works.
As Construction Manager, you will:
- Supervise and monitor EPC construction activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements, approved drawings, technical specifications, and applicable standards.
- Monitor construction progress against the approved project schedule, identify delays and critical path impacts, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with the EPC Contractor, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), the Client, and other project stakeholders to resolve technical and interface-related issues.
- Review and witness inspections, testing, commissioning, energisation, and acceptance activities.
- Monitor compliance with QA/QC procedures, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Review method statements, inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), technical queries, and punch-list close-out activities.
- Assess construction risks, interface issues, and change requests, providing recommendations to the Project Manager.
- Prepare construction progress reports and advise the Project Manager and Client on project status, risks, and mitigation measures.
Your qualifications
This role requires the following -
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in construction supervision or construction management for utility-scale infrastructure, power, or renewable energy projects.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience on utility-scale wind farm projects.
- Experience working as part of a Project Management Consultancy (PMC), Owner's Engineer (OE), Lender's Engineer, or EPC supervision team.
- Experience delivering international projects; previous experience in CIS countries will be considered an advantage.
- Strong understanding of construction planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and critical path analysis.
- Sound knowledge of utility-scale wind farm construction, commissioning, EPC contract administration, and construction supervision practices.
- Proven ability to review construction schedules, progress reports, and contractor performance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within multicultural and international project environments.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Russian is considered an advantage.
