Support Measures for local clusters in Ethiopia

The project Cluster Support in the Agriculture and Food Industry in Ethiopia is part of the Special Initiative on Training and Job Creation of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It aims to improve the employment and income situation

in Ethiopia’s agro-processing sector by supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the agro- and food industry. The main objective is to increase the employment-effective growth of companies in this sector.

The project’s target group consists of unemployed and underemployed people, with a special focus on women, employees and management of local and Ethiopian-based European and African companies in the agri-food sector, particularly MSMEs. The project’s objectives are being pursued in three fields of activity, defined in

Output 3 - Cluster development: The entrepreneurial ecosystem in selected clusters is sustainably strengthened

The purpose of Output 3 is to sustainably strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in selected sectors and locations. In this context, the contractor is responsible for the delivery of the activities and associated milestones defined in the following four work packages.:

  • Assess regional structures and business environment & Identify stakeholders
  • Engage and involve potential partners for the Hawassa cluster
  • Formulation of specific intentions, goals and strategies
  • Planning the organizational structure and financial model of the Hawassa cluster

Tasks of Expert 3

  • Support regional coordinators in event organisation and coordination
  • Documentation and administrative tasks
  • Travel arrangements and logistics
Qualifications: 
  • University degree (bachelor’s/master’s) in economics, communication, business administration, or any other relevant field
  • Knowledge of English (C1) and Amharic (C1)
  • 5 years of professional experience in business administrations

Start / Duration: 

Part time position for 60 wd within 6 month; period of assignment: from 28 March 2022 to 30 September 2022
