German-Uzbek expert dialogue for sustainable and climate resilient agriculture- Component for climate resilient seeds and fodder production

Development Objective:Climate-resilient, sustainable agriculture strengthens agricultural production in Uzbekistan and contributes to improved food security and resource conservation.

Project Objective:The Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and the Committee for Veterinary Affairsand the Development of Animal Production (Veterinary Committee) are involved in the promotion of on-farm and institutional expertise to develop sustainable and climate-smart seed and fodder production for livestock.

The expert dialogue on climate-resilient, sustainable agriculture focuses on a sustainable improvement of fodder cultivation for milk production, from seed development to feeding. The aim is to build up the corresponding competencies at institutional and farm level to achieve the agricultural development goals set by the Uzbek government.The involvement of the MoA and the Veterinary Committee as political and operational partners creates a broad basis for cooperation at institutional and farm level and is also intended to counteract the decoupling of arable farming and animal production:

Tasks of the expert: 

  • Support the project management in the coordination of the project activities•
  • Planning and implementation of the consulting of the research institutes•
  • Training of professionals and managers (research institutes)•
  • Coordination of cultivation trials in cooperation with partner institutions (e.g. AKIS (Agriculture Knowledge and Information System)) operated.
  • Participation in important events•
  • Documentation of the consulting effects. 
Qualifications: 

Minimum requirements:

  • University degree in agricultural sciences (or similar) (at least diploma/Master's degree)•
  • At least 5 years of professional experience•
  • Good command of English.

Further qualifications/experience that will be positively considered within the framework of the assessment (advantageous)

Professional background:

  • Agricultural science studies with specialisation in seed production/breeding•
  • Knowledge of climate resilience in seed development•
  • Professional experience in seed production and breeding•
  • Project management experience on an international level•
  • Experience in cooperation with other international projects•
  • Knowledge of the framework conditions for seed production in Germany / Europe and at international level•
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry/dairy production/forage production
Start / Duration: 

From April 2023 to March 2026 with an option for one-year extension
