China - Environmentally-sustainable livestock production and processing

The project aims at demonstrating sustainable livestock value chains that deliver food of international quality standardsin 16 project counties in Henan province in China. The project will help 16 medium and large private livestock production and/or processing enterprises, project participating enterprises (PPEs), implement environmentally-sustainable livestock production and processing; and establish livestock product quality monitoring and testing system.

Green Gold - Sustainable Rangeland Management

The project objective is to promote collective actions for sustainable rangeland management and improving herders’ access to markets and knowledge.

Outcome 1:

Collective action for sustainable rangeland management: Pasture User Groups (PUG’s) promote at the herder’s level sustainable pasture management and economic development (f/m).

Outcome 2: Applied agricultural research that produce results for the practitioners: Science based understanding of Range Management issues enhances scope for sustainable range management at all levels.

Trade Facilitation: Improved Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Handling of Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Trade Project – Package T1: Project Management and Implementation

The project acts as a conduit to both export facilitation and safety in national supply chains, and aims to widen economic value addition in the country by strengthening institutions and operational and management capacities in the area of SPS measures in Cambodia and enhance capacities needed for operating cost-effective SPS systems that facilitate trade and protect plant, animal and human health.

Landwirtschafts-Praktikum in China

Das Konsortium DLG International / AFC Consultants International führt in der Inneren Mongolei, China, das Kooperationsprojekt „Deutsch-Chinesischer Demonstrationsbetrieb Staatsgut Ganhe“ durch (Projektlaufzeit: 2008-2014). Partner sind das Bundesministerium für Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz (BMLEV), das chinesische Landwirtschaftsmi­nisterium, Landtechnikhersteller (CLAAS, LEMKEN, GRIMME, RAUCH, MONOSEM) sowie die Ganhe State Farm. Mittels deutscher Landtechnik und Beratung wird hier auf effizientere, rentablere und nachhaltigere Bewirtschaftungsmethoden hingewirkt.

Study on Modern Agriculture in China

The Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) requested technical assistance (TA) from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to conduct a study on modern agriculture demonstration area (MADA) planning and financial support mobilization. The TA will develop prototypes of MADA strategic development plans and conduct a study on financial support to the construction of MADAs, taking into account successful international practices and experiences in agricultural modernization, as well as achievements and ongoing interventions of ADB in the agriculture sector.

To systematically and comprehensively assess existing drought management and establish an integrated drought management strategy, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided the Ministry of Water Resources (MWR) with capacity development technical assistance (TA) for the Strategy for Drought Management. The key recommendation of this TA was to shift from reactive emergency response to proactive risk management. Based on the outputs of the TA, the MWR prepared a national anti-drought plan that included a drought management strategy and an action plan.

Food Security in North Korea

The purpose of this contract is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Food Security assistance provided by the EC. The principal results to be achieved by the consultant in the operation of the FSO are inter alia: Sound, timely and precise monitoring, evaluation and reporting of all EC-funded FS projects (18+) in the DPRK encompassing inter alia food production (including livestock), nutrition, health, water and sanitation and capacity development as well as regular update of lessons learned to both EC and organisations implementing projects.
