Team Leader for the Dialogue on climate and agriculture in New Zealand

Background and Rationale:

In the BMEL project “An alliance for the climate - Dialogue on Climate and Agriculture between New Zealand and Germany”, the mutual exchange of experience and cooperation between New Zealand and Germany will be intensified in order to develop solutions for the global climate impact of/on agricultural production systems.

Results: 

Result 1: Intensification of scientific exchange between practice-oriented research institutions

Result 2: Establishment of a political dialog on priority subtopics

Result 3: Coordination of joint support measures in third countries with a focus on the Global South

Tasks of the expert

• Management of the project, i.e. strategic and content management, control of the project

• Agreement with the partners on priority topics, possible measures and concrete, staggered activities

• Planning and coordination of the short-term expert assignments

• Coordination with the project partners

• Coordination of/participation in important events

• Ensuring the coherence of all project activities

• External presentation of the project

• Responsibility for ongoing monitoring

• Preparation and organization of PSG meetings

• Ensuring high-quality reporting to the client and regularly informing the political partners

 

Qualifications: 

Minimum requirements:

Completed university degree (Master's degree or equivalent)

• At least 5 years of professional experience

• Very good written and oral language skills in English

 

Professional background:

• Relevant academic background

• Experience in agriculture and climate change

• Experience in working with ministries/government agencies and research institutes

• Experience of working in international cooperation projects

Regional expertise and language skills:

• Work experience in New Zealand

• Work experience in countries of the global South

• Written and oral language skills in German

• Written and oral language skills in Spanish

• Written and oral language skills in Portuguese

 

Methodical skills:

• Leadership experience in international cooperation

• Intercultural communication and networking skills

• Ability to document complex issues comprehensively and present them

clearly and transparently

• Experience with the organization of workshops and dialogue formats (virtual and face-to-face)

• Experience in the field of diversity, inclusion or gender equality

Start / Duration: 

The project is scheduled to run from February 2024 to December 2026 with the option of a one-year extension
