Import – export and custom clearance support - Ethiopia

The Global Crop Diversity Trust (https://www.croptrust.org/) is an international organization with Headquarters in Bonn, Germany whose mission is to ensure the conservation and availability of crop diversity for food security worldwide.

The Capitalisation of the Endowment Fund of the Global Crop Diversity Trust and Strengthening of National Seedbanks project aims to empower national seed collections, by safeguarding them in perpetuity through an endowment fund, documenting and managing them appropriately for conservation and use, and promoting their use, as a basis for climate adaptation of vulnerable African cropping systems. The project is supported by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW and is conducted in Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia, Ghana and Nigeria. The scope of this TORs is limited to Ethiopia.

The project foresees improvements in infrastructure, procurement of equipment and services to safeguard the source of power supply, water, refrigeration- and air condition, the facilities for germination, drying and cold rooms. The shipment of equipment is estimated to start in the second quarter (Q2) of 2022 after the suppliers have been contracted and the goods are ready for shipment.

Qualifications: 

Minimum requirements and experience:

  • Familiarity with prevailing import taxes, customs and excise regimes and practices in Ethiopia.
  • A minimum of 5 years working experience in import and export processes
  • Experience in logistics, handling, customs clearance, inspections of similar kind of equipment
  • Excellent skills in both spoken and written English.

Strongly preferred skills and experience:

  • Proactive, innovative and creative attitude.
