The core problem of the agriculture, natural resources and rural development sector in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) can be summarized as low agricultural productivity, quality, diversity, and unrealized trade potential, with a rapidly eroding natural resource production base due to physical, economic, and capacity constraints.

Technical assistance to the modernisation of agricultural programme in Sri Lanka

The purpose of this contract is to provide technical assistance (TA) to support the Government of Sri Lanka to work on 4 key results areas which are instrumental to achieve a more productive, diversified, climate-resilient, market-oriented and equitable agriculture in Sri Lanka.

Enhanced Use of Disaster Risk Information for Decision Making in Southeast Asia

The regional capacity development technical assistance (TA) will enable increased capacity building and knowledge sharing among selected Southeast Asian Developing Member Countries (DMCs)—Cambodia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Myanmar, Philippines, and Thailand— on disaster risk-informed decision making. The impact will be improved risk-sensitive decision making for public investments in selected Southeast Asian DMCs. The outcome will be improved capacity in selected Southeast Asian DMCs to integrate DRM in the development processes.

Rural Economic Development – Value chain development support services and service delivery capacity of local government in the Highlands Region

PNG is well-endowed with natural resources and has an open economy with substantial exports and imports. In this framework, the agriculture sector plays a significant role by providing broad based income and employment to the vast majority of the population in the country, most of which still lives in the rural areas and engaged in subsistence and semi-commercial and commercial farming.
