Projet « ETUDES DE FAISABILITE ET DE CONCEPTION, PUIS ACCOMPAGNEMENT DE LA REALISATION D’UN POLE DE CROISSANCE AGRICOLE INCLUSIF DANS LA REGION DE TILLABERI AU NIGER »

Le présent projet de pôle de croissance agricole est associé au développement de périmètres irrigués. Le pôle de croissance est envisagé sur une superficie de l’ordre de 1 500 ha. Il sera conçu comme la première étape d’un aménagement à terme de 4 000 ha.

The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development launched in 2014 the global initiative „One World with-out Hunger“. The objective of the global program „Innovation centers for agriculture and food sector” which forms part of the global initiative is: Innovation in the agriculture and food sector have improved income of smallholder farmers, employment and food provision. Under this framework the country module AgrInNet Nigeria has been developed being subject of this tender.

The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) launched in 2014 the global initiative „One World no Hunger“. The global program „Innovation centres for agriculture and food sector” forms part of the global initiative and aims at improving income of smallholder farmers, creation of employment opportunities and improving food supply through supporting innovations in the agriculture and food sector. Under this framework the country module “Innovations for Agricultural Productivity in Arsi” (IFAP – Arsi) has been developed being subject of this tender.

The assignment encompasses the delivery of advisory services for the project “Improvement of the framework conditions for a Sustainable Economic Development in Mozambique - ProEcon" (PN 2012.2190.1) related to Intervention Area 3: Promotion of an Inclusive Financial Sector in Mozambique, with the objective of increasing the access and use of financial services especially in rural areas.

Turkana and Marsabit counties are two of the least developed regions in Kenya. Over 90% of the roughly 1.2 Mio inhabitants live close or below the absolute poverty level. The majority of the population are dependent on regular food aid. Due to a dry climate and marginal endowment of natural resources, nomadic livestock herding (pastoralism) is the livelihood basis for the majority of the population in both counties.
