With the GIZ financed project “Agriculture & Agribusiness Innovation Network Nigeria (AgrInNet)” which was awarded to AFC in July 2015, another page has been added to AFCs long standing and successful engagement in Nigeria. The objective of this project is to enhance the identification and implementation of innovations along the maize, rice, potato and cassava value chains in up to eight federal states of the country, targeting agricultural smallholdings and up- and downstream agribusinesses. Core elements of implementation will be the design of ICT supported platforms for innovation management, the capacity development of public and private service providers, the organization of large scale training events as well as the facilitation of innovation partnerships between the Nigerian and the German private agricultural and agribusiness sector. The project will run until December of 2017 with a staff of 7 national long-term experts and an international team leader. It forms part of the global initiative „One World with-out Hunger“, launched by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in 2014 with the aim of promoting innovations along agricultural value chains. AFC is already implementing projects related to this global initiative in Mali and India.
