AFC supporting Benin’s Agriculture Sector

AFC has been working consistently in Benin for the past twenty years in order to support and strengthening its agriculture sector. In recent years we have stepped up our activities, providing a number of services for different donors. For the German Development Bank (KfW) we have been managing an agriculture sector investment fund which supports smallholder farmers in northern Benin. As part of a regional project on agricultural vocational training (funded by GIZ) we are currently reviewing training curricula in Benin, training teachers on practical training tools, and how to support young agricultural entrepreneurs post-training. We are also supporting the burgeoning financial sector (an essential step for promoting investment in agriculture) by training banks on the topic of meso-level finance (funded by AFD).

We have a local office in Natitingou, and in-keeping with our increased level of engagement in Benin, we are now investigating opening up a country office in Cotonou from which to coordinate our operations in close contact with our partners.
