Team leader_Certification of tea and coffee producers in Rwanda

In order to export products to the EU market, producers in Africa need to fulfil a wide array of requirements related to quality. These requirements include mandatory, legal product requirements (technical regulations), voluntary technical norms from official technical committees as well as private quality and sustainability standards. Conformity with these requirements is assessed in predefined procedures (audits).

Tasks to be performed within the context of this project:

  • Support selected producers and agribusinesses to be supported towards meeting quality demands of international buyers
  • Strengthen market-oriented public and private quality standards services
  • Support the involvement of the private sector in the work of technical committees on norms and standards
  • Communicate results effectively

Tasks of the team leader

  • Overall responsibility for the advisory packages of the contractor (quality and deadlines)
  • Coordinating and ensuring communication with GIZ, partners and others involved in the project
  • Personnel management, in particular identifying the need for short-term assignments within the available budget, as well as planning and steering assignments and supporting local and international short-term experts
  • Regular reporting in accordance with deadlines
Qualifications: 

Qualifications of the team leader

  • University qualification (German ‘Diplom’/Master) in agricultural or economic studies
  • Good business language skills in English (C1 CEFRL)
  • 8 years of professional experience in the agricultural sector
  • 5 years of experience in building capacities for agricultural advisory/ extension services
  • 8 years of management/leadership experience as project team leader or manager in a company
  • 5 years of experience in projects in Africa
  • 6 years of experience in DC projects
