German-Argentinean expert dialogue on innovations for a climate and environmentally friendly agricultural economy

The German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) promotes the cooperation with third countries in the fields of food and agriculture through its Bilateral Cooperation Programme; Argentina is one of the priority countries in this programme.

The overall objective of the project focuses on the promotion of dialogue and the strengthening of contacts between German and Argentinean experts to support innovative, environmentally friendly agricultural technologies and sustainable, climate-friendly agricultural utilisation systems.

The specific project objective is to support Argentina's approach to promote the climate and environmentally friendly innovations in the agricultural sector. The knowledge gained from the expert dialogue is to be applied in particular by experts and managers of state and private institutions of agricultural administrations as well as of research and educational institutions. Indirect target group of the expert dialogue are companies in the agricultural sector including their trade associations and organisations which are committed to innovations for a strengthening of the sustainability in agricultural production and processing as well as institutions of climate and environmental protection.

Planned outcomes include, but are not limited to:

  • Outcome 1: The institutional and legal framework conditions for promoting innovation in Argentina's agricultural sector are strengthened.
  • Outcome 2: The dissemination of innovations in climate and environmentally friendly agricultural technologies is supported under an integrated approach.
  • Outcome 3: Innovative approaches for climate and environmentally friendly agricultural production and usage systems are piloted in research collaborations.
