Project Manager/Consultant (m/f/d) Agriculture Finance @ AFCI Bonn

Agriculture & Finance Consultants GmbH (AFC) is a private German consulting firm focusing on agriculture/agribusiness and financial sector development projects in developing and transition countries. We employ almost 60 permanent staff members at our headquarters in Bonn/Germany and on average 880 external consultants throughout the year implementing projects for various donor organizations (e.g. ADB, AFD, EBRD, EIB, EU, GIZ, KfW, World Bank) in one of our 88 offices abroad. AFC is a member of GOPA Consulting Group, Germany's largest group of consulting firms in development cooperation.

As part of the continuing expansion of our financial sector development segment, we are looking for a Project Manager/ Consultant, in particular for the following fields:

Agriculture & Value Chain Finance

As a Project Manager/ Consultant you will be responsible for the acquisition of new projects and for the implementation of ongoing projects. You will work in our Bonn head office with regular missions to project regions as part of consulting and backstopping missions.

Your tasks in detail:

  • Coordination of project acquisition, including technical offers and the selection of project staff
  • Organizing and conducting fact-finding missions as required
  • Technical and financial management (backstopping) and monitoring current projects while taking into account the formal requirements of the contracting organization
  • Close cooperation with the consortium partners and local partners
  • Opportunity to further develop technical expertise via short-term missions
  • Building and maintaining a professional network with the various donor organizations and the beneficiaries (e.g. banks and microfinance institutions in developing and emerging countries).

Qualifications: 

Your profile:

  • University degree in economics, business administration or similar
  • Min 5 years of professional experience in development cooperation
  • Min 5 years of professional experience in the field of financial sector development
  • Min 5 years of professional experience in the consulting sector and/or in consulting for financial institutions (banks, NBFIs, MFIs, etc.) in the context of development cooperation
  • A focus on Agriculture Finance
  • Full working proficiency in English; French would be an advantage
  • Experienced in drafting English texts
  • Flexibility, resilience, a self-assured manner as well as excellent team work, communication and presentation skills
  • Good planning and organizational skills
