Fostering sustainability of Cooperatives in Turkey

The GIZ program "Promotion of Economic Prospects for Refugees and Host Community Programme (PEP)" supports the implementation of development-oriented refugee response measures for job creation and fostering socio-economic integration of the refugees by supporting the demand & supply sides of the labour market.

With this assignment, Promotion of Economic Prospects (PEP) plans to extend its support to cooperatives, by:

  • Providing targeted support for improving the cooperative’s business models and accordingly operational plans,
  • Identifying training needs and developing a training program accordingly,
  • Identifying unaddressed business opportunities such as labeling and export,
  • Developing a long-term strategy and model for continuing developed capacity development measures by local experts and actors,
  • Identifying and training of a pool of local experts and/or staff of local implementation partners to equip them with the skills to continue with the capacity development measures,
  • Organizing so-called “Cooperative days” for implementing said trainings together with the local experts, enable peer-learning, networking, and enhanced visibility,
  • Providing further backstopping for specific questions of cooperatives and/ or local partners
Qualifications:

  • Supporting the project implementation in Turkey
  • Identifying potential local partners, cooperatives and facilitation of communication
  • Close involvement in the workshop preparation & logistics
  • Drafting of reports

Qualifications of expert 3

  • University qualification (Bachelor) in Economics, Politics, or Administrative sciences (Business Administration, International relations, Public Administrations, etc.) or Engineering (Industrial Engineering) or Social Sciences or related fields; or equivalent long-standing demonstrated work experience in the field of assignment.
  • Excellent communication and written skills in Turkish (C2 in the Common European Framework of References, CEFR), good knowledge of English (B2 the Common European Framework of References, CEFR)
  • 4 years of general working experience
  • 3 years of experience working with cooperatives or in business development, private sector development or entrepreneurship, empowerment of women; or work with local public authorities or NGOs,
  • 1 year working in a team or in an advising role.
  • 1 year experience in projects in EU/ Turkey.
